Makes me glad some of the people who have been playing since Red/Blue may finally get the chance to find one in the wild. Granted, if they're more common then maybe there's less satisfaction to finding one, but that's up to the finder to decide.

I've found many over the years so it doesn't affect me much. There have been some Generations where I've found very few or none at all, and others where I've found many. 2 already in X/Y so it's all good for me.

At least I got the birds and the other box legend. Im thinking of maybe making a shiny relicanth aquarium box on my PC. The horsea is a Modest Sniper so I may actually end up using that.

It doesn't matter. Masuda method decreased the shiny encounter rate to like 1/1100. PokeRadar and chaining shinies existed way back in Diamond and Pearl days. Get a grip you morons.

Shiny magikarp in gen 2 is the worst, you can't use it because then people just assume you are using the gyarados from the lake of rage.

That same thing happened to me in my copy of gold. I was so happy because it was gold Magikarp in Gold version.

Worst part about not being able to evolve it is the fact that I caught it in Lake of Rage too so there was more reason for people to think it was just the Gyarados.

The thing is even now if they want to be competetive they have to do a least a bit of research and find out about EVs, IVs, Natures etc. in the first place. It's not necessarily clearly explained for everyone out there in game

it shouldn't be a big deal. Gen 4 seemed like it was way easier to find shinies than any other gen. In my platinum I found 2, and in Soul silver I found 3. Also back when I borrowed a friend's Diamond I found 2 through pokeradar, so I think it depends on one's experience.

I like having shinies for myself, it doesn't matter too much to me if others happen to have them as well. Rare is cool and all but in the end it's just about having a neat pokemon. I'm glad to have shinies be around--I think it says something that people have been playing the game for 12+ years who have never seen a shiny ever. Rare is one thing but I think it's a bit nicer at least on the kids to give them a chance to have something special. I think it's pretty cool.
