I've had a few instances where Pokémon outsped me when they REALLY shouldn't have. I already checked if being Scarfed could have led to it, but in many cases they used several moves, and other times their base stats simply weren't high enough for it to be plausible.

Had these popping up together all the time in the 20th single battle.
Also had Grumpig outspeeding a Speed Boost Mega Blaziken without a Quick Claw or priority moves. That was bullshit.

I heard one of the best strats for getting through Battle Maison is to use a Mega Kengaskahn with the moves, Power-Up Punch, Ice Punch, Return, and something else, I forgot what it was. But basically with it's Mega ability parental bond everything hits 2 times, thus nullifying subs and sturdies and shit like that.

Hypnosis does always hitting in Battle _____ though.

Nintendo really needs to make some changes so we don't need these arbitrary rules. Sleep should always make you move second and should be broken by damage or something.

You can't outwit a human when it comes to strategy. The best you can do is cheat in the most subtle ways possible.

Like making the computer pick it's move after it knows what you're doing, or giving it a slight crit/hit bonus.

They just did a really bad job at the "subtle" part.

I got to 86 in super singles before losing. Lost to a weezing with Stockpile/rest/toxic/wil o wisp. Just couldn't kill it before it set up, which was unfortunate.

Honestly it's not very hard, the biggest threats probably start around floor 40 when veterans start to appear. They have legendaries, but usually suck. Biggest thing to watch out for is that some have choice'd Terrakion (not sure if it was banded or scarfed, but it used earthquake into a levitator before switching so I'm guessing it was locked.). For the most part though, a lot of battles have scrub pokemon, even on the higher floors.

The key to success is to build a team that doesn't just get fucked over by hax. Frail sweepers that get ohko'd on the backswing if you miss one of your attacks will just fuck you over, since you're playing for long streaks and statistically you WILL get unlucky eventually. The key is bulky pokemon that hit hard, and covering your weaknesses with good teambuilding.

Pokemon has always been horse shit. You just never notice because you usually fight Pokemon 20 levels under yours in the main game and can OHKO them every time., and they also tend not to use status moves. The AI in the Battle Tower has better programming and as a result actually uses some semblance of strategy. But as a seasoned Pokemon player, you should already know that 50/50 means 25/75 in their favor.

Depends, if you are really good and get longer streaks more often you get 30 BP for five battles (6 per fight) for example. If you try to get every trophy + a 100 battle streak you will have enough BP for the rest of your life anyway

Why those in particular?

Aegislash might give you some leverage if you employ its attack/defense alternation properly. But Battle Facility pokemon are more often than not designed to whittle you down or impair you before they go in for the kill, so it's generally best to use resilient party members.

Sharpedo is actually GOAT in the doubles battle since the AI _always_ goes for the kill when they can get one.

So you use Sharpedo with Protect and Dive, everyone will attack it and your second Pokémon like Entei starts Erupting without having to fear anyone attacking it most of the time.

Those first 3 should never be missing. Especially water. It's definitely best to bring 3 dual types for maximum coverage. My biggest problem has been dealing with Electric/Steel types. My original 3 that got me pretty far were Greninja Ninetales and M-Mawile but I think I need a Ground-Fire or something that can switch into electric attacks and still have coverage for steel/grass.

The fact that King's Shield changes your forme when it fails has saved my life so many times it's not even funny.
On my way to a 24 Super Singles streak (not yet broken, I just stopped so I could breed better 'mons) I've had my lead Aegislash Para-fused or Para-ttracted something like a dozen times, and I've still managed to sweep over half of those thanks to Shield forme activating when I failed to move, paralysis keeping me from switching to Blade forme until I attacked and failed, and Lefties recovering most of the health I lose when I'm in Deo-D mode.
My other two party members are Megadactyl and Goodra, neither of which are well-optimized. It's a miracle I've made it this far...

Guys, I've been using the Truant Durant + Cloyster combo for Super Singles and I lost at around battle 45 due to Whirlwind + Sheer Cold Walrein.

Ever since starting over from battle 1, every other match has a whirlwind or roar user on it. Is the game adapting?

Use entrainment
Switch in Cloyster, Dragonite, or some other Speed + Offense boosting Pokemon
Protect on every non-truant turn
Sweep

Only problem is that Roar and Whirlwind go through protect

Common in a lot of RPGs to compensate for AI shortcomings.

If a move has a 5% chance to miss for you, expect it to be at least 15%, but when the computer uses a 60% accuracy move it will never miss.

Mega kangaskhan. Powerup punch first turn on most things, if something resists it or is weak to EQ, I'll use EQ or return instead. It should always take out the first pokemon, and if it doesn't sweep through it'll have dented the second one pretty badly. Send in scarfed moxiecross to finish it up, with Aegislash as emergency. Not a perfect team, since gengar was a major problem, and the support could have been better (use a scarf user with better synergy, maybe replace aegislash too).

Turns out there's no other way I could have defeated his terrakion after aegis was sent out. Perhaps if I used sacred sword with aegis, but it's all ogre now. I should have kept that scarfed heracross.

I think the game changes the Pokemon to have max speed everything if you're outspeeding everything in previous battles
