I like gen 6. Granted, it's Dex is ridiculosuly small compared to previous gens, but it has likable pogeys overall, and you can get virtually every previous gen pogeys, so it's really cool. But you know what somewhat bugs me about this gens dex? The dragon types. Why? Because they aren't actually dragons. Dragalge? It's fucking seaweed turned into a beast, not a dragon. As much as I've always wanted a poison/dragon type, the theme of it is probably among the sillier ideas GF ever spewed. I do kinda like how it looks, but they should have kept it water/poison. Tyrunt line? T-rexes. A t-rex is a dinosaur, which granted are reptiles, but not dragons. I know the criteria for being a dragon type isn't actually being a dragon (well, this gen made it obvious if nothing else), but rather having traits of a dragon, and it's nice to see a new fossil type combo. I also do like this one, I'm waiting for my own Tyrunt to evolve, but I wouldn't call it a dragon. Goodra line? Even though Goodra is the one that shape-wise looks most like a dragon, it's still the one I'd least call a dragon. It starts as a fucking slug (why are the first two stages also dragon types?), and it takes the shape of a dragon. I know, bizarre evolutions is nothing new to GF (looking at you, Remoraid), but Goodra, at it's final stage, I would call a Barney snail rather than a dragon. Barbapapa is as much a dragon as Goodra. Noivern line? A badass line, hard not to like them. Noivern could at least get a passing grade as a dragon, since it's name implies it's a bat/wyvern crossbreed, but I see it more as a bat than a dragon. And finally, Zygarde. This definitely could pass off as a dragon, though it still looks more like a flattened flamboyant anaconda. Anyone agree with me?

by your logic nothing ever could be a dragon they've made a seahorse into a dragon, it's not really a problem, just an expression of creativity

It doesn't really bother me. I don't necessarily think of "dragon" as a certain winged fire-breathing lizard, or anything in particular for that matter. As far as pokemon goes I just see it as an abstract powerful creature. I don't have a problem with Mega-Ampharos for the same reason.

It's just that, in this particular gen with very few new pogeys, dragon types are among the most abundant, yet none of them are actual dragons. They made a single non-legendary ground-type this gen, and only one bug family, new dragons are significantly more abundant this gen.

A dragon is a mythical creature, what defines it is really up to debate. Just because classical dragons are reptilian in nature and share many traits doesn't mean all dragons share those traits. So you aren't really able to say that they 'aren't actually dragons', you're just complaining because the dragons of Gen 6 don't follow the same tropes as most of the dragons from previous Gens.

Dragon myths come from dinosaurs. Goodra is based on a blue sea dragon. Noivern is based on Pazuzu or other gargoyles. They're very much "french dragons." Zygarde is Nidhogg. It's a fucking dragon. You know how long it's been since Gen V came out?
Two years. That's it.
It was close to twice that between IV and V or III and IV.
They knowingly released a game with less Pokemon - drastically less. If it really was because of "all the work" they put into animating the existing ones, keeping in mind it hasn't been THAT long since BW2 (relatively), then you know what? They should have waited, made a dozen or two more Pokemon, and maybe caught some of the bugs they released the game with, THEN released the games. They shouldn't have rushed out a product that objectively has less content than their previous generations, even if it shines in other areas. It sets a very, very bad precedent:
Time and work were clearly NOT and issue and I am god damn sick of hearing people saying this.
