I can't say for sure but I have noticed that it does seem to work a little bit better. Whether that's just luck (since you have like a 60% chance of the mother passing) or actually something working or has yet to be seen.

I'm new to this whole thing, but I've managed to breed 31 attack IVs down from a safari ditto onto an adamant speed boost torchic. What do I do now? Just breed it with a safari ditto holding a different item to pass a different stat, and pray the attack is carried over?

The ditto in question has 31 in attack, speed, and special defense.

Did my first real breeding session and got a Helioptile with 5 maxed IV's. Guess that's pretty good.

What do I do with the result from that? I can't for the life of me figure out what.
I could put it with another ditto that has destiny knot, but then the baby would probably be missing the attack/speed/sp.def that the original had.

Breed until you get a Torchic with more stats that have 31 than the one you're breeding with and put it with Ditto again until the baby has all the stats you want at 31. If you want stats other than those 3, you'll have to get a Torchic with those three and then put it with a ditto that has the rest.

It's not as hard as you might think. From the friend safari (so, two perfect IVs each) I managed to raise a 31/31/31/x/31/31 Larvitar in about an hour or two.

I am trying to breed an Oddish with 5 good ivs, I only got to 3 good ivs, with one of them attack (that I don't care abou).

i am breeding an oddish with perfect attack, defense, special defense to a ditto with perfect hp and speed.
The oddish has an everstone and the ditto a destiny knot.

New to Iv breeding

If I want a good Gible with I guess 31 atk/speed/hp or anything else, I should be checking with the judge with every single Gible that hatches to see if it has anything so I can replace the previous breeding one with that one to pass those Ivs and try for that+more?

So it's a cycle of replacing the parent after getting max Ivs in one thing then waiting on that + another so eventually you keep passing down + waiting on another or two max Ivs to show up?

If you wnat Special Attack, you're going to need to get that into the mix eventually. You're sorta in a shitty position unless you can find a Ditto with HP, Speed and Special. Otherwise, you need a x4 31 IV Female with HP, Defense, Sp Def and Speed that you can use to breed with a random 'mon for the Special

I have a few anticipation eevees with 5 perfect IVs (the imperfect IV being attack) and I was considering evolving one into Sylveon. Is pixilate even usable on this thing? Considering it's not a physical attacker, I'm not seeing much uses. Should I just breed one with cute charm? Thoughts?

Hyper Voice now pierces Subtitute. It's the only use for Pixielate: Fairy-type Hyper Voice.

Start out with Gible with nothing special, keep breeding till an iv or two is maxed, then replace the parent with the new one that has max ivs in a stat and repeat till a gible with more max ivs is born?

Say I have 2 parents with decent IV's say both 31/31/31/31/31/x each but none of them have good speed IVs

Could the good speed IV's comes from permutation of other IV's or do I essentially need to hit 1/31 shot to get the last good IVs??

Yes, use the judge to find babies that have better stats than their parents. If they have better stats than a parent and can replace them (without taking a stat out of the line!) then put them in.

Say you have a Male Gible with 31s in Attack and Speed and a Female Gible with 31s in Defense and Special Defense. You hatch a Female Gible with Attack and both defenses. Plop that in to replace the female and you'll have a higher chance of a quad baby. When you get that quad baby, you can put it with a Ditto or some other Pokémon with a 31 in HP to get the final stat.

Be careful, if you replace one of the parents with a baby that doesn't share their perfect IVs, you'll lose out on that stat! You can do it if you want, but you'll have to get that stat back later from another 'mon.

You may want to add the berry juice introduced in Gen VI. The better the berries you use, the better the effect. I mixed together a Mago and a Roselli and got a drink that gave a +20 to the speed stat, I think.

In the beginning stages when you get a hatchling with bellow 31 ivs but still like 20+ and you use a power item or destiny knot to pass it to the next, will it be a chance of a complete copy or can it become better from there up to the 31?

So if I get a hatchling with higher but not maxed ivs do I replace the parent with the hatchling in hopes of the next one having higher/maxed in a stat to start the max chain?

The ability is irrelevant since you'll be most probably mega evolving it on the first turn anyway, and Mega Blaziken's ability is Speed Boost no matter what.

And no, most people settle for 5 perfect IV Pokemon, skipping ATK or SPA as appropriate.

The odd of getting a 6 perfect IV Pokemon through 2 5 perfect IV parents is 1/32, which is actually pretty high if you think about it, but with Pokemon like Torchic that have a 87.5/12.5 male:female ratio it's a nightmare.

So really, don't bother.

Hey guys I'm trying to breed Icicle crash onto a swinub but I haven't been able to get it to work. This is my first time breeding moves so I'm probably missing something obvious.

I've got a near perfect adamant swinub in both genders and then beartics in both genders that both know icicle crash and none of them are passing the move on.

Just to test I bred the two beartics together and the cubchoo offspring don't know icicle crash either. What am I doing wrong?

That chart is ass.
The second row means your highest IV is 1/6/11/16/21/26/31.
Often Dozes Off is no longer a characteristic. It is replaced by Takes Plenty of Siestas.
Loves To Eat should be where the chart says "Takes Plenty of Siestas", and represents 0/5/10/15/20/25/30 IV.
Nods Off A Lot should be where "Often Scatters Things" is, and represents 2/7/12/17/22/27 IV.

It's only 16 points per item and in your case you actually need only 2 of them.
At that point it's possible to get parents with 5 IV each.
The 6th one is always luck.

Is there a way to easily figure out what is compatible with one another for breeding?

I'm aware that wild babies have at least 3 perfect IVs this gen, so I was hoping to use that for breeding purposes to bypass Ditto grinding, but I keep messing it up somehow. Like... I know Gardevoir and them are Fairy now, so I tried to breed them with Maril, but that didn't work. Caught a bunch of Budews now to evolve into Roselias to try to breed, but just looking to see if that'll work before I put all the effort in.

Or if there's some kind of breeding tool / app that you guys can recommend to help figure out egg groups and stuff, I'd love that. I've only bred in previous gens for Dex and trading, but the ease of 6/6 31 IVs has me eager to learn properly now.

I have heard that you can't catch DW abilities in the Safari unless the other person is online in-game as well.

And I encountered several Imposter Ditto yesterday and I re-checked if the other one was online and he was definitely not.

I had the same problem as that anon up there and than I combined a Power Item with the Destiny Knot and got it within 5 eggs, either it was luck or whatever.

I think some of that info isn't confirmed yet.

I didn't even think of any egg moves, since my build has everything relearned (i.e. Aura Sphere) or TM (Flamethrower, Dazzling Gleam). Maybe I'll start on egg moves after I get a lot of perfects.

So I've been breeding a Male Pinsir with a German Ditto. The Pinsir has Quick Attack and Close Combat. When I give it the everstone to pass on Jolly, I get Close Combat on the babies but not Quick Attack. Serebii says Pinsir can pass on both moves through chain breeding. When I tried without Everstone one time it had both CC and QA and the second time it had neither.

I think they still pass their original moves on as long as you leave them in the day care.
When you take them out it's over.

I know no way to prevent it other than checking their moves and taking them out to delete other moves and putting them in again.

Thanks, I'm out of Heart Scales so I'm farming Luvdiscs. Anybody know if the Pokemon's moves change when you take them out of the Day Care if they've been overwritten?

Is it wrong if I don't give a rat's ass about IVs? Me and my friends just battle against each other, we do everything competitive except IVs. We just don't even care about them. We do natures, abilities, egg moves and yet we don't care about the minute difference between a 1v1 of the same mon.

I have no idea, i've only just gotten into breeding start of this Gen, but yeah, marill learns like 6 moves early so as it goes from lvl 1-15 it forgets all the moves it had, i took it to the move rememeberer and the moves were there

As long as they're left in they should only pass the moves they had when you put them in, as soon as you take them out that template is forgotten and whatever you have on them at the time will be passed on from there on

also, if you need heart scales, try going to the Game Sync, you can send you pokemiles (look on your trainer card) to the global link, sign up your copy and you can buy heart scales for 100pokemiles, really handy and no farming required!

That's 100% fine, you don't technically even need to do it for competitive battling all the time (other than speed, you need perfect speed) IVs only give you a small edge over people without them, it's a difference of maybe 20-30points in a stat, 1/2 that if lvl 50

BUT, it can be the difference between an OHKO and a 2HKO, or between living on 1 hp and getting OHKO'd
