now trade some pokemon away to someone

put the original save data on your computer back to the sd card and now you have the original save again even after you traded away those pokemon.

Actually people have been restoring backups due to that one save glitch that happens in the city so I feel this may be possible

Where does the 3DS store the data anyway? I looked through the memory and it didn't look like it stored save data in the SD.

It wont work. Pokemon doesn't allow you to use backups. If you were to trade away your pokemon, and then try to load an older backed up save, your 3DS would block you from loading that save.

you are talking about the native backup feature from the home menu in that link(which isn't enabled for pokemon X/Y anyways).

I am referring to both. What OP is thinking of is backing up the save file from the digital version on his computer. It wouldn't work for the same reason. The 3DS makes a unique hash for the save everytime you save. And it stores that hash on the system itself. When you load the game, the 3DS checks to make sure the hash that is stored on the system matches the hash on the save file. If they don't match, you won't be able to use that save. So there is no way to clone pokemon by using backups.
