Actually it's one of the few cases where it's a good choice. 150 STAB damage is very nice in a pinch if you want to finish something off.

Competitively? Don't use it. And really, if you're using Thunder on Heliolisk, you shouldn't bother.

Mine (an apparently everyone else's, sadly) has Thunderbolt, Grass Knot and Surf. I carry Thunder Wave, but HP Fire or Ice could be useful for grass types.

For PvE, Hyper Beam is alright. Not ideal, but okay.

Unfortunately Heliolisk doesn't really learn any other special normal STAB, because Gamefreak thinks special normal attacks that aren't Round are EVIL and WRONG.

God though my fucking face when I took my Heliolisk to the Hidden Power guy. The Hidden Power? Electric.
