didn't care much for fairies, but it was a welcomed addition.
Story was alright, usual melodramatic world saving stuff, but what was the best feature is the new 3D platform.
I also absolutely love the new breeding mechanics too.

I'm not too sure about fairies still. GF claimed it was to balance dragons, but even still, I always had an ice type for that problem, so I guess I never really saw it.

The problem with Fairy type is that it completely and utterly failed in every possible way to balance Dragons.

It's a complete failure of a new type, and whoever was in charge of the execution should be fired.

As of Generation V, there are 29 Dragon-type Pokémon or 4.47% of all Pokémon. I stand corrected. But they are only good against other dragons, type-wise, now they can't do shit to an entire type. I mean, Keys. Really? KEYS!?

I don't really understand the point of mega-evos, especially since some were given to crap like Garchomp, Scizor, Gengar and others that really didn't need them. I feel they were made just for the sake of adding something new. Seriously, why didn't they just make regular evos for mediocre at best mons? The Eviolite argument is not really relevant, since stuff like Mawile and Dunsparce wouldn't become OU with it, and I'm having a hard time believing annoying shit like Sableye would become OP, especially now, since it has a weakness. Not to mention that most mega-evos look terrible, but I won't insist on that.

I think it's pretty obvious that giving proper, fluid, 3d animations for 729 pokemon was a huge undertaking, not to mention doing it all again in greater detail for pokemon amie, and that's why other aspects of the game seem so anaemic. There's no way GF could do all that and release another 100 new pokemon, and add in a shitload of post-game stuff etc. etc. Plus it follows on from the usual generation tradition of having odd-numbered gens be full of new pokemon and innovation, and even-numbered gens being more restrained and focusing on new hardware and tightening mechanics and shit. It's par for the course, and it'd be a little churlish to expect dozens of new pokemon after B/W.

But, how cute is fucking pancham, amirite?
