I'm relatively new to Pokemon (I only played a bit of red, yellow and finished crystal during my childhood) so I've returned to the series with Y, and I have become interesting in breeding for a shiny Pokemon.

So far I've only copied what I've seen in a couple of threads, and have a box and a half of Eevees (bred with native ditto and JPN Eevee).

Is there anything else I can do to increase the shiny hatch chance, or maximize the potential of my regular hatches?

Or am I doing it completely wrong?

Also, if anyone has any need for some Eevees let me know, so I don't have to just wonder-trade or release them.
