Brave is the best because with Aegislash, speed doesn't matter. Your spread should look like:

252 atk / 252 hp / 4 sp.def

252 atk, and then split the remainder between def and SpD

Sacred Sword
Iron Head
Kings Shield/Shadow Sneak, entirely up to you

turtle and automiize for one or two turns. get faster than everything else
sweep

Your personal preference does not stop a Brave Aegislash from being optimal. A Brave with a similar move and EV spread will beat an Adamant as long as you aren't an idiot.

Right now, /vp/ and everywhere else will tell you to use the retarded gimmick set.

If you want your Aegislash slow, wouldn't running Shadow Sneak defeat the purpose because it can be left open? Wouldn't Shadow Claw also be good or is it just a preference thing?

Ghost+Fighting is guaranteed neutral or better coverage on EVERYTHING but Ghost/Normal. Which doesn't exist.

Ghost/Steel while providing STAB can be walled.

The point of shadow sneak is for nothing to survive it. Allowing Aegislash to clean sweep without getting hit. It's used outright after multiple boosts, or to finish something off.
