How do stats work with Ditto? Do your Ditto's IVs and EVs just apply to the copied Pokemon's base stats?

No, I mean I know Imposter copies stat changes such as SD or DD, but I didn't think it copied the passive boosts from the opposing mon's held item.

Also is there even confirmation that Ditto transforms into Megas, or just the base form?

Given that there's no way a ditto will randomly carry gengarite in the off chance they face a gengar, this means it copied the form without needing a stone.

You want scarf. The only thing it doesn't copy is HP, so full investment in that and defenses. Joe smogon approves of a low speed IV too, in case of a struggle-off on an opponents ditto for whatever reason.

For the most part, choice scarf usually works best because any other instance, you would speed tie with the opponent. Choice Scarf gives you their boosts, and then an additional 1.5x, making you outspeed every single time.

You get locked into a move that only has 5pp though so if you stay in after five turns you'll eventually struggle to death if you don't die before.

Sassy nature means you Struggle to death last in the rare Ditto vs Ditto matchup and putting IVs into Sp.Def can help you take a Dark Pulse from Zoroark since Imposter fails against Illusion.

Yes, but before Imposter Ditto was utter shit because he needed turn. Imposter wasn't released in Gen5 so few people(me included) actually did any significant research into Ditto.

This thread has interested me though.

Moves, ability, type, stats bar HP, EVs bar HP, stat stages and weight are replicated, but species, IVs, items, and gender are not. Moves copied via Imposter have 5 PP maximum. In multi battles, Imposter transforms the wielder into the Pokemon directly opposite the wielder. Imposter fails if the opponent has Illusion or is behind a Substitute. Imposter only activates on switch-in; if it is acquired during the battle, it will not activate. If the wielder uses Entrainment or is targeted by Role Play, the move will fail.

All you need to know about Transform/Imposter.

However, people screamed Imposter Ditto would be THE Revenge killer in Gen 5, yet it's solidly NU.

Thing is, now he can copy Mega Pokemon, wich means you can have two megas on one team in essence, and your Ditto is packing a Choice Scarf.

You know, thanks to this I think Imposter Ditto will see more play.

Countering Mega Gengar with your own Mega Gengar, while still having a spot on your team for your own Mega Evolution sounds really REALLY good on paper.

Dunno if it's as good as it seems in actual battle though

IIRC the reasoning was some bullshit like "Ditto is only as good as the tier it's in." It's somewhat true, Ditto is actually pretty bad in NU because of all the weak Pokemon there.

I think it's mostly due to the low usage though. Sure quite a few people used Impostor Ditto, but it really wasn't that prevalent. Apparently it was a lot more common in the Japanese metagame last gen, but idk how much truth there is to that.

it's the ultimate revenge killer, but it cant do much beyond that, your basically forced to cs and its still 50/50 vs other cs users. Anything with priority kills it, base 48 hp.
