X is a physical attacker with a dragon type, so gets hit by earth but gets STAB from Dragon Claw and normal damage from ice type attacks.
Y summons sun, gets a huge sp.att boost and remains fire/flying, give it solar beam to fuck up any water or ground/rock types, getting a hidden power of ice or whatever you need coverage of wrecks shit.
I prefer how Y works, but I have a sp.att charizard waiting for pokemon bank, and his physical pool is pretty limited for anything over 80
