>>15149517No, the reason you weren't allowed to is because they have zero resistances except to themselves and Fighting, and GameFreak has been terrified to make them even remotely viable ever since Gen 1. Psychic is super effective on Poison and Fighting, but nothing else, while being resisted by itself and Steel, and having no effect on Dark.
Psychic moves have terrible coverage in addition to the users typically being frail. Fighting types? Doesn't matter, they're weak to Flying, and now Fairy, too. Poison? Everything and its mother that can used TMs/be tutored learns Earthquake or Earth Power, or gets Hidden Power. There is no reason at all to run a Psychic-type move, especially now that Fairy is around.
Fairy is immune to Dragon, resists THREE popular attack types (Bug, Dark, Fighting), and has two virtually irrelevant weaknesses (hey, this sounds familiar). The only reason Fairy isn't completely wrecking everything else is because the Pokemon with the typing are mostly garbage. The moment they introduce Fairy-type Pokemon with >500 BST and *intelligent* stat distribution, we should all be very, very afraid.
