I have a feeling it's a cultural thing. There are about 1.5 mil copies spread across the US versus the 1.5 mil on their small island of Japan. Communities of players probably form much easier and as a result they exchange advice and strategies and get better faster than western players can.

The main point of the video (rather the reason I saved it) was because it highlights the difference in performance between peoplemon with and without perfect IV's. My team was getting hit hard but once I put Gourgeist out there (perfect IVs) it was in the bag. I would urge you to watch again to see the dramatic turnaround.

Also it was my first one, I'm still not great at competitive battles by any means

I've been working on predicting my opponents probable starter and countering correctly. First match it worked well as I guessed he would lead with Hydreigon so my Garchomp bitch slapped it with Outrage. I really fucked up once his Aegislash came out though. I let it boost its speed after I missed with Fire Fang and then switched in to Gengar to try and use Disable to keep it from using its Iron Head since that seemed to be its only damaging attack. He ended up using kings shield first and I ended up disabling that instead. Still victory was never really in doubt, I just could have ended it a lot sooner than I did. His Aurourus fucking used Hyper Beam to take out my Garchomp. It was his last pokemon and he left it defensless for a turn. Easy pickings for my Scizor.

FP4W-WWWW-WWWX-VXMA

This next match was pretty easy. I thought he would send out his Xerneas that he had in his party out first so I sent out my Scizor to bullet punch it but it ended up being mega Lucario instead. Scizor tanked his close combat and took it out with a brick break. He switched over to Delphox which died quickly to EQ from Garchomp. I figured he would finally send in Xerneas but instead Sylveon was his last. I didnt even think it was worth switching back to Scizor to bullet punch it so I just let Garchomp deal with it.

Though not the best competition I am starting to see where my faults are and my weaknesses so theres that. I think what I need is a good starting pokemon that can set up some hazards and just make life for my sweepers easier.
