There's so many sets you can run with it. The most boring ones are tanky sets focused on Mega Venusaur's bulkiness and usually revolve around Leech Seed + Giga Drain or Leech Seed + Synthesis. Those usually run with either calm (+SpD, -atk) nature, or impish (+Def, atk).
You can also run a pseudo-tank with a Modest/Adamant nature (running Giga Drain/Sludge Bomb and Earthquake + Petal Blizzard respectively) to some success.
The set that I'm looking forward to running is a mix of his Gen 5 self and the new Mega Venusaur. I've figured it'll be something like this:
Venusaur (Chlorophyll) - Venusaurite
Modest, 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Sleep Powder
-Growth
I'll be running some support on it in the form of Klefki or Whimsicott @ Light Clay or @ Heat Rock which can both set up Reflect/Dual Screen and Sunny Day then suicide for Venusaur to come in.
He either scares off the other Pokemon or he Chlorophyll Sleep Powders it and then gets a Growth off and proceeds to sweep for as long as sun is up.
If you're afraid of a fire/ice move coming your way or sun is about to run out, you Mega Evolve him and have a +2/+4 SpA tankier and slower Venusaur throwing out huge Giga Drains.
