If you're good at Super Training, it's super fast.

If you get lucky, you get 24 EVs per game, and each game takes like... twenty seconds. How hard is that, really?

I've EV trained since the release of D/P.

I'm doing Super Training in X/Y because it's actually kinda fun to do and doesn't take much longer than actual EV training.

infect the pokemon with pokerus
needing to be a high enough level to beat hordes (this is bad for eggs)

by the time you do that you can already have made good progress in super training

Why are people bothering with EV training pre-E4?

I hope these aren't the same people complaining that the game is too easy. Jesus fucking christ.

I get doing it at least once to get access to Secret Training and the stones you can get from it, but having to do Super Training for an entire party seems like a giant waste of time.

After you have all the stuff you need like pokerus and EV items, you just need a high level sweeper in the lead using surf or something... You can have 5 lvl 1 pokemon in your party with no EV's, if they all need speed EV's, turn on EXP share, and only have your lead in battle, killing Wingulls

There are a million lists with easy hotspots listed that take a minute to fly over to from Lumoise. Grab an Oddish with sweet scent and you get a horde almost 100% of the time. Most patches of grass only have 1-3 possible hordes available.

Because I like being in control of the stat gains, even if it isn't important in the main game. It bugs me to have a pokemon going in the complete opposite direction I want them to. Wasting points on the wrong attack stat, or speed on something slow, it sucks.

I get that but I like the game being as challenging as possible. Putting a handicap on my pokemon by simply not EV training them is an easy way to aid that goal. I wanted to try some of my runthrough team competitively after E4 so I simply farmed some reset bags. To each their own though.

Yeah, the reset bags are fantastic. My biggest problem was always that you need an assload of one berry to reduce EVs, then an assload of these other berries, and then you have to wait days just to make anything you used in the main game usable.

That's... not true. I beat all five battles and walked away with 15BP and a PP up, so 3BP per battle. The PP Up is nice though.

Hey I assume most of you breed your pokemen, so I'll just ask here.
I have 3 Scythers

F1 31/31/31/31/31/??/31
F2 31/31/31/31/31/31/??

To get perfect iv's across the board, do I have better odds if I breed with F1 or F2.
I Obviously got a Destiny Knot and Everstone.

Fuck, I added an extra IV, just ignore the first 31.
All three have 5 perfect iv's, the question is should I overlap them, or have them staggered.

If you want six you should go with the two that have two different perfects. If you go with 100% overlap you have less than a 1/31 chance of getting all perfect, since destiny knot will carry over the imperfect a fair bit.

I was doing M + F1 because I figured I could never get more than 2 bad IV's, where as with F2 I could get 3 bad IV's.
But I think you're right, I'm going to swap after I hatch this next batch.

It's better to get a higher chance at a shitmon as well as a perfectmon, than to get a better chance at a pretty greatmon.

I'm newish to breeding myself but I've caught on pretty quickly. Just finished breeding a Trick Room team so that taught me some interesting stuff.

Super Training is very easy but you only get 12 EVs per session, meaning you have to do it 21 times to max out one stat (slightly less if you use x2 bag).

With horde encounters you can get 50-60 EVs per battle, which means you only have to do it 5-6 times to max out a stat. You also get experience, so you can level up your Pokemon at the same time.
