Since people seem to be basing whole generations upon the 6 big themes. Trainer, Wild Battle, Gym, Elite four, Rival, Champion
It's safe to say that VI isn't the best due to having a lacking wild battle, gym, and champion theme This is more of a hit and miss. I really like it but I've seen a lot that don't.
But as far as overworld music goes I actually think gen VI did really good.
Kanto's overworld themes were mostly forgettable other than lavender town.
I don't even remember classic johto's themes. But it has my favorite gym battle theme.
Some of hoenn's overworld music was really nice with meteor falls coming to mind first despite being filled with trumpets.
Most of DP's music was good, and they had pretty good battle themes too. Hated their bike theme a lot though.
Gen V's overworld themes were forgettable to me aside from unwavering emotions, but they had good battle themes. except the fucking rival theme
They also did all of the gen's champions/gym leaders aside from hoenn's champion, and kanto's gym leader some pretty good justice in BW2
I'm actually really impressed with most of the overworld themes in this game, although I hate cyllage city's theme a lot.
Snowbelle is probably my favorite overworld in Gen VI though.
