You're slower, they hit you with shadow claw, you take barely any damage
You go second, OHKO them because they have like 50 base defenses

Why would you want to go faster in a mirror match unless you really think you can just stand there and set up to +6 with an Aegislash ready to King's Shield away your boosts or kill you in return when it tanks a hit?

Generally Gambles have payoffs.
The only thing that Iron Head would give you over Sacred Sword is coverage on Fairy Types

Even if you hyperbole like that, fairies still can't do anything to Aegislash. Like, the only viable Fairies right now are Togekiss, Florges, and Azumarill. And the former two's movepools are all entirely resisted by Aegislash while Azumarill can't do much except try to aqua jet and chip away Aegislash's defense form before it sweeps with shadow claw.

You don't get it. MEW is the fucking best HM slave in the worl because it learns very single fucking move. Being good competitively means fucking nothing, because you'll can still be someone's HM Slave and thrown out during a fight, with nothing but shitty HM moves, making your win against a tryhardmon all the better. Last I checked Protect isn't an HM unless they added a roadblock that involves crossing a corridor or sharp objects

But Turn Order is decided before mega evolving, including things like priority

So the turn you send mega gengar out and evolve it, it has 110 base speed. The 130 base speed only applies the next turn.

Chatot's gimmick comes from Chatter though, which is a move. Chatot itself isn't a gimmick mon.

It's the same with Aegislash. A dude just said that abilities don't count as a gimmick, then another dude went and said "Implying Stance Change isn't a gimmick", it's really contradictory.

The only thing that activates Stance Change is King's Shield, so if you count Chatter as a gimmick, then King's Shield is the gimmick if anything.

People KNOW that turn 1 Protect is so common, so they often try to guess that you'll go for it and use it to set up with a buff/Sub/weather/etc themselves.

Using protect, swords dance, or literally any other status move will put Aegislash in defense form.

usually most good walls have over 100 base special defense or defense so that isnt a good argument
