I was blessed with this guy after only two eggs, but unfortunately he has a poor speed stat. I'm not good at breeding, what do you guys do when your shines have poor stats? Box them forever?

you need the worst speed possible so ageslash will attack second
imagine ageslash always taking hits when in defense mode
that is what you want take hits while in defense mode
so attacking first is a no no because you will switch into attack mode first
then your opponent turn next you take huge damage because you not defending
