So does anyone have any idea why the music suddenly changes sometimes while your chaining? Do you think it signifies something? Somewhat related I finally caught a shing Croagunt after a couple nights of trying along route 7. Working on a Miltank atm. If anyone has any questions about chaining I can try my best to answer them. Chaining general?

Make sure that you only go for the really fast shaking noisy bush, don't even bother with anything else and also make sure you only go for ones that are at least 4 spaces away from you (check the picture at the top to get an idea).
Yes its true that you can still get the pokemon if its the bush next to you that shook and you enter it, BUT the closer the bush is to you, the higher the chance that your chain will break.

So does the patch distance mean as much as it did in gen 4? I've heard that it doesn't matter nearly as much, what's important is that you hear the heavy shaking bush and go to that one. Any truth to that?

Theres a small chance that you can reset the radar and no bushes will shake when you have a really narrow grass. Its because the game randomly assigns squares so if you get unlucky and it just assigns the squares to ones with no grass on them your fucked and your chain will break. I would try it a few times and see how you do and if not just Masuda it. Then you can get better IVs/nature anyways if you really like Ralts.
