Not really. If they've all got "zones", it could just randomize one which it loves and one which it hates, just like it does for flavors of berry.

Hell, they could use the exact same thing and make it based on nature.

It's as simple as assigning some variables.

I'm not going to max my main Pokemon's Amie again. Now everytime I send Tyrantrum into battle I have to wait a few extra seconds for his looking around at player animation and all the extra text fluff. It's almost as annoying as weather notification or Speed Boost notification every turn.

I noticed that Mewtwo prefers being touched on his hands exclusively.
I think it's meant to symbolize his loneliness and need for companionship, or simple acceptance.

But i've found you can build up a better personal profile learning about the pokemon on the amie. It's so interesting.

I've also noticed that touching Pikachus cheeks shocks you, and that stroking Zygardes mane(?) makes the hexagons flash different colours.

If you touch Aurorus's ice gems, your hand freezes for a second. If you pet Pumpkaboo's shadowy top part, your hand goes through it/turns translucent. It stills reacts positively, though.

Umbreon fucking GLARES AT YOU if you touch the rings on its head. I have waited since Gen 2 to be glared at by an Umbreon, it's fucking great. It loves getting its chest petted.

Scyther hates petting on the chest but loves it on the blades. Polishing maybe.

Petting only works so many times. When it starts getting musical notes that means it wants to play the mini games.

Same with feeding. You can only do it so much. Once their food meter fills you got to play some games with them to get it to go down so you can feed them more puffs

Hold the stylus anywhere not on the pokemon and you'll waggle your finger. After a while certain pokemon will paw at you (or lift their head in tyrunt's case) and if you tap their paw you'll slap it and they get all happy

I know I've done it with eevee, pancham, and tyrunt, not sure who else it works with
