So if you have a perfect iv ditto and give it destiny knot, then have a 31 iv speed random mon hold macho brace and breed them, what is the result?

Guaranteed perfect ivs, or what will happen?

destiny knot doesn't pass 5 from the holder

it passes 5 total from both parents at random

so you could end up passing just the ditto's stats

that's why it's better to pair destiny knot with everstone to guarantee the right nature

I have 2 5IV Joltiks going ham in the day-care, I have a 1/6 chance of getting a perfect 5IV Joltik every time.

You could end up with perfect offspring, offspring that only gains the nonperfect stats from the speed mon, or anywhere in between.

Building up two pokes with decent IV spreads (that have a potential 31 on either side of the family is the key to getting to perfection (in the stats you actually care about)

if you're thinking about the mechanics of it it works like this:

The computer first picks one of the six stats at random, and assigns it a random number anywhere from 0 to 31. You have no control over which stat it is or what score it's assigned.

For the remaining 5 stats each will inherit the stat of either the mother or the father, with no limits on how much one parent can contribute in relation to the other. Obviously if both parents have the same number for this stat, it's assured to be passed on.

The best case scenario is that you have a perfect IV ditto and a trash mon you want to IV train. You first have to hope that the random stat goes towards whichever attack stat you aren't using, and then that each of the other stats are inherited from the ditto.

The odds of this happening in one go are 1/6 * (1/2)^5, about a 1 in 200 chance. If you're not happy with less than perfect in all 6 you're looking at a further 1/32 chance on top of that, leading to about a 1 in 6000 chance.

Provided you don't get so lucky, you pick the most improved offspring, then replace them in the breeding program to increase your odds.

Also the odds of just finding an IV perfect ditto in the wild are 1 in 46656.
Finding it in the safari zone are a somewhat less insane but still very unlikely 1 in 1296

Note that finding a safari zone perfect ditto is actually more common than masuda methoding a shiny (1 in 1638). So it's a fair trade if you're willing to give up some shine for utility.

Just keep in mind that if pokemon bank doesn't have some way to catch them, IV perfect ditto are gonna get a lot less valuable once the flood gates open

Just curious, is Gyro Ball worth teaching?
Base Power = 25 × (Target's Current Speed / User's Current Speed)
On a Brave Fortress is would still not have enough power to go over 100 againts a common OU or widely used pokemon when I was doing the math with base stats.
I was planning to use it in a trick room party and I guess Im looking for a second opinion on the move

I taught it to my Aegislash with a power item for its main steel stab
I haven't tried it yet (just with an Ampharos for the hell of it but obviously it didn't work well, I need more testing)

Don't use it on Aegislash, it's too fast. Iron head will always do more damage.

I want to know to. Im just rounding numbers when doing the equation and most of the results x25 for base power would most of the time give you a bit over 50.
