I tend to avoid the hell out of people who go, "Look at how progressive I am, I'm such an activist, I have slash ships!", since it's just... okay, that's nice, tell me about how your activism is helping out homeless kids or stopping people from being assaulted or killed for their sexuality or identity? So I definitely get where you're coming from! Just, fandom is a part of my life as well, and given that the vast, vast bulk of relationships portrayed in media tend to be heterosexual, fandom is one of the few places where it's not oversaturated.
