I'm only going to partially agree with OP.
It seems like a lot of pokemon that got Mega Evos were already strong to begin with, when they really could have used this as a chance to even the odds for pokemon that couldn't stand up to the stronger ones.

I've said this before, megas aren't meant to give weaker pokes a fighting chance and never should have been.

If you wanna make mawile and banette better, you give them a fucking evolution. Megas ideally should have been applied to fully evolved pokemon that couldn't evolve further like charizard or wigglytuff. Of course, Gamefreak went full retarded and gave megas to both overpowered shit that just end up being redundant like garchomp and mons like mawile which essentially dooms them to forever be shitty and not have an evo.

Potentially good concept, shit tier execution.
