I dislike Blastoise but love Squirtle and Wartortle.
How would Blastoise look if it continued with the design of Wartortle instead of being completely different?

I have the same opinion with Dewott.
Thought it was a great design fell in love with it, but it somehow turned into some shitty looking pokemon.

Gen 5 was my least favorite, and when I saw they fucked up with my favorite starter I just stopped playing.

Samurott is a brilliant design when you consider it's a samurai evolving into a general.

The only thing wrong with it is the typing and movepool, but the design itself is one of the best.

They don't.
They want starters with a natural progression of concepts that add to it. Many starters instead do this for the second evo, then remove everything and go a completely different way for the third evo.
