I have been quite lucky on GTS, I've asked for female Aron, female Tyrunt and low level Raichu, I got them all, they were very reasonable. I never asked for anything too over the top though, I doubt if I ask for a Mew or even a Chikorita I don't think I'd get one, I'd be waiting a while.

Part of it is retards and part of it is that reasonable trades get taken almost immediately for a lot of Pokes. I've almost given up on searching, If I want something, I've had way better luck just offering something fair and asking for what I want. 9 times out of 10, by the time I check back a little later, the trade will be done. That's how I got all my Japanese Dittos too. Put up my Dittos, and I guess Japanese people looking for foreign Dittos trade, never gotten an English Ditto back.

You can filter it, though. Just press options in the lower-left corner of the search menu and select the option not to inclufe people who are seeking special Pokemon.

Don't worry about it. Until the patch came out yesterday, you couldn't use those filters and trade at the same time because it would crash the game.
