Alright so in all seriousness, do you think PokeGen/Pokecheck will ever happen this gen? I doubt PokeGen will get updated for gen6, but i could still see Pokecheck happening.

This thread is not to discuss hacking vs breeding or anything, but rather to discuss the possibilies of these entering the field

Pokecheck will be up in time for Bank, I believe. It's not like anything but Gen 6 mons will need to be checked at that point anyway. And with how fast it is to get perfect IVs now, it won't be that big of a deal even IF Pokecheck never gets updated.

The entire concept of RNG is based off of datamining the games and studying the coding so the RNG can be figured out. On top of that, you need an external application to RNG at all, unless for whatever reason you know all the formulas and shit and want to do it yourself.

Why do people get so hung up on how you got the end results? I don't get it, no matter how you got what you did you still have the same thing as everyone else. It's a numbers game, no matter how hard you train or how many hours you pump into this game a Jolly Garchomp is not going to go any higher than 333 speed.

It does, it's just that it doesn't require modification of your save file. It works by creating a Pokemon with the software on your pc, and then send that pokemon to your game through the GTS

Is it true that there's no way to tell if a pokemon was made using PokeGen?

I can always use my PokeGen mons on Nintendo's wifi battle system, but when I upload them to pokecheck there's always a laine or two in red saying something like information is missing or could indicate the pokemon is hacked

So what's the consensus on Pokebank? People think genned mons will be transferable or there's still some doubt?

There's really no way to describe RNGing other than autism. You're cheating in a child's game because you don't want to actually play it, presumably so you can play competitively, but you choose to do it in the most ridiculously roundabout way instead of just using Pokegen and getting it over with.

Oh, and the hilarious denial of the fact that it's cheating. Any time I see someone do this I always imagine some fedora-wearing neckbeard getting hot under his collar any time someone calls RNGing cheating.

What in the hell does "cheating the RNG" really mean? The only meaning I can think of is modifying it somehow... which is only possible with actual cheating and something that RNG abuse doesn't entail.

Remember, in RNG abuse the Pokemon is generated by the game itself, and not by an external program or device. It's something important that people just seem to forget.

Even for a shitty 1 GHz computer taking a couple ms to get you a seed from a program, that's still checking a very generous lower bound of say a thousand seeds a second. I'm sure you can calculate and then check a seed in about 18 seconds, given that you could find a suitable seed within an exaggerated 5 hours.

Do you even understand how generous these estimates are? This is the lower bound of all lower bounds. A slightly more realistic estimate, albeit still extreme, would be checking a seed in 0.01 seconds, which is faster than the "refresh rate" of your eyes themselves. Speaking from experience, a 2.2 GHz CPU can't even handle all those seeds in anywhere near 1 ms.

I don't think either one is really cheating since Pokemon comes down to a numbers game and the outcome, a perfect IV/EV pokemon, will be the same whether you pokegen it, RNG it, or raise it yourself.

But if you're going to call either one cheating I think it's ridiculous to not say that the other is as well.

How is this true? As far as I know they haven't changed the way IVs are passed on, besides Destiny Knot which is useless unless you've already got a perfect mon

So if you have 2 parents both with 6 IVs it's gonna take just as long and be just as difficult...
