X is a Physical Sweeper with an ability that boosts all contact moves, which includes every physical ability that Charizard can learn. Charizard can learn Outrage through a single breeding session.
most of the time, people equip a confuse curing berry to Outrage users, but Charizard X Can learn 3 other moves, Air Slash, Dragon Claw and Flare Blitz.
normally, you would not use these moves, as they are weak compared to the likes of Flamethrower, but that ability pops up again, which powers up contact moves. see where i'm going with this?
Fire Dragon is a significant improvement in defense as it removes 4x weaknesses and strengthens existing resistances.
not to mention the stat bonuses from the Mega Evo focus on attack and defence stats.
so, basically, Y improved the original charizard by making him more charizardy and X just made him into an entirely different beast altogether, game wise. they are opposites but both of them own shit.
both of them are about equal in "shit wrecker" rank.
