Talonflame gets Gale Wings as it's secret ability which gives +1 Priority to flying moves. Priority is what determines what ability hits first besides speed. Most moves have neutral priority (0), but moves like Quick Attack and Aqua Jet have higher priority. Gale Wings basically means that Talonflame will always hit first unless you have a higher priority move, so getting a Blaziken to deal with GUARANTEED GO FIRST FLYING ATTACK is pretty fucking stupid.

One of the natures that raise speed (or an attacking stat*) without lowering either attacking stats. I don't know that wallbreaker would be a good choice for Hydreigon anymore, what with so many bulky fairies and fighting types that can hit you 4x.
*As a wallbreaker I think you could get away with a lower speed, since its main purpose would be outspeeding walls, and they rarely if ever invest into speed, unless they need to outspeed a very specific threat. If you go this route, dump mostly into your attacking stats (do some calcs to figure out how much special attack and/ or attack you'll need to be able to punch through defenses and kill them). Invest enough into speed that you aren't a sitting duck, or possibly even into defenses so you can survive bulky mons who carry SE priority (Conkledurr, for instance).

Okay guys, I've been playing sen gen 1, skipped gen V, and here I am in Gen VI doing my first real stat breeding and with all the changes, I want to create a competitive team. This is my first I've created and laid out. Here's all my goals 1. Hawlucha Adamant with Limber named El Fuerte - Fighting/Flying - with Sky Plate Moves: Flying Press, Hi Jump Kick, Bounce, Brave Bird 2. Togekiss Modest with Serene Grace named Mavis - Fairy/Flying - with Leftovers Moves: Aura Sphere, Moonshot, Thunder wave, Hidden Power 3. Magnezone Modest with Sturdy named Tesla Coil - Electric/Steel - With Magnet Moves: Thunder, Magnet Rise, Flash Cannon, Rain Dance 4. Chandelure Modest with Infiltrator named Lumiere - Ghost/Fire - with Fire Plate Moves: Flamethrower, Shadow ball, Will-o-wisp, Energy ball 5. Hydreigon Rash with Levitate named Chimera - Dark/Dragon - with Dragon Fang Moves: Crunch, Stone Edge, Draco Meteor, Hyper Voice 6. Quagsire Relaxed with Unaware named Quaghuurr - Water/Ground - with Rocky Helmet Moves: Earthquake, Waterfall, Toxic, Swagger I've already gotten desired natures, abilities and triple beneficial perfect IVs on Togepi, Litwick, Deino, and Magnemite. Work on Trying to get a hidden ability wooper and I have not started on Hawlucha, but I already have an adamant one from my main party I've been using so getting the nature will be easy. The idea is an annoying team with strong attacks and defense by typing.

So I am completely new to competitive and I have no idea what I am doing. I want to make a Gen 1 team that I can use to play online for fun, not looking for something incredible just passable. I used to run this setup in black/white and it used to work pretty well. Jolteon (lead) Carracosta (shell smash physical sweeper) Reuniclus (calm mind special sweeper) Hydreigon (choiced revenge killer) Ferrothorn (the usual) Chandelure (flash fire to cover ferro's ass, calm mind, substitute, psychic and flamethrower) What changes should I make with the new gen6 pokemon in mind? The biggest problem is I can't catch carracosta in gen6 so I'd need to replace her. Any thoughts? I was thinking of replacing Carracosta with mawile as physical sweeper because I love mawile and she's recently been getting attention cause of the mega-evo.. but the speed is so low so I'd need to change the whole team setup to cover for it with trick room. Any other ideas?

How do I build a "core" for my team? Here's what I was thinking I want to use Mega Charizard-X, but he is weak to Ground type pokemon, right? Well...Dragons too, but he can counter them himself. Give Aegislash Leftovers. Trust me. It's amazing if you do it right.
You don't have an EQ weakness, but the Ice weakness is definitely there. Greninja should offset that a bit with his HP, but Aegislash will be your biggest Ice counter. (and he does make a good scout, so it may be worth considering using him as your lead)

Gliscor is very niche I'm finding myself ATM, but if you pull him off makes people rage quit. I suppose I'm lucky in the regard I'm usually running Scizor to deal with Gengar (Night Slash hiting neutral on Steel makes it a better choice over a Bug STAB) and Jolteon to deal with Skarmory. Greninja should scare the steel bird off, Gengar... may have to make a sacrifice to get Aegislash back in to revenge kill.

Adamant
Intimidate
252 HP/252 Atk/6Sp.Def
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Fire Fang
Steel doesn't offer good coverage outside Fairy, and Fairy hits itself neutrally. Fire Fang helps to prevent you getting super walled by things like Ferrothorn and Skarmory as Huge Power is enough to make them have second thoughts, as well as generally preventing you being walled by Steel types. (also makes for a good Scizor counter)

>>15258759 Ok, just finished watching. My two cents.
Switching and predicting. It comes with time but you must learn it. Be happy you actually managed to get Sleep Powder off. Most Talonflames would go for Brave Bird off the get go fucking you over. Don't let them. Would've switched Aegislash in. Same line of thought, why leave Swalot in vs Malamar?
Delphox; by grateful the bird wasn't banded otherwise that would've been a one shot. Also, Flamethrower of Fire Blast over Blast Burn. No one likes recharge times, especially so if you're fighting in the rain against a specially defensive wall.
Mawile; why didn't you Mega? Better still, why not Sucker Punch after Play Rough to get the priority KO?
Aegislash; learns to scout more. King's Shield to test the water and see how they'll react. Also, if you had've used Shadow Sneak vs Malamar you would've won. Hits neutralling just like Sacred Sword, and Malamar would have melted. This guy is the backbone of your damage output. Learn to trust him but also give him his space to stretch.
