I used to be in your shoes dude (Not quite the 1000+ combined hours). Just keep playing, it'll happen eventually; statistically, you're on the far end of the bell curve.

But if you want to increase you chances, learn to chain with either the pokeradar or fishing as your odds of getting a shiny from those is much higher (0.5%-2% depending on how you want things explained). If you're going to try Masuda method for breeding shinies, do it in Gen V; the shiny charm (which you get from completing the pokedex) stacks with the increase from MM breeding, so you'll have JUST shy of a 0.1% (0.097%) chance of a shiny from any given egg.

Yes, the highest odds you'll find are about .5% of a given pokemon being shiny, but given that the odds are normally 0.00012%? How much is getting a shiny worth to you?

So far this year I've found a shiny nidorino in hg safari zone and caught it, a shiny dratini bred without masuda method in white and luvdisc and scatterbug in Y, been very lucky.

I've caught a Shiny from every available method this gen. Fished a shiny Dragalge, got a shiny Growlithe from the safari, ,masuda'd a shiny Chespin and got a Scraggy from a horde.

Just keep at it, OP, it will happen.

2 red gyarados, 1 gliscor, 1 bidoof, 1 qwilfish (250ish fishing chain) and 1 shiny roggenrola (from WT after 4 boxes)

It had single color palletes if you played it on a GBC or Super Gameoy. As in, it displayed one color at a time. Shiny Pokemon would not be possible.
