Nintendo gave official numbers of the copies sold by main title Pokémon Games.

Ruby & Sapphire sold 1 million copies more than Black&White.

That being said, quality =/= sales but this is surprising. R/S came out right after the fall of Pokemon's popularity, so I thought it would've sold the worst.

That being said, Emerald is much better than them in every single way.

But to be honest, I don't think Nintendo... No Gamefreak should be hoping they outsell a game like GTA V.

And lets be honest here, GTA V looks like they put a lot more effort into it. It improved virtually every thing that people had beef with in the previous installments in the franchise. Not save it for a re-hash to be released a year from now. I mean not that XY are bad games, they're not, but it's like they take one step forward, and two steps back a lot of times. They had a good thing going with B/W with the story but they went back to the format of defeating the team before the final gym. The new features are great and I love playing with my Espeon, but that shouldn't shadow over the core of what Pokemon is. Things like the gym leaders being mediocre and the champion being mediocre is really bad. The "69" pokemon thing is bad too, but if they have tricks up their sleeves then that's okay.

I just feel like X and Y went backwards more then go forwards in some aspects. When you're supposed to do the opposite.

Ruby and Sapphire were out early on the GBA while Black and White were released at the very end of the DS. Ruby and Sapphire sold more because of the time it had on its console.

Because seriously in ever gen there are object Pokemon or Pokemon based in objects, period. Magnemite, Remoraid, Chimecho, Bronzor, Kling, Klefki. There's no escape, this is not Pocket Animals but Pocket Monsters and monsters can be anything.
