I don't really participate in these kinds of discussions often but I will say this, the r/s/e games put me off pokemon games for a few years. It'd just gotten boring by then for me and I didn't come back until black/white.

I'm sure r/s/e the greatest thing ever for people who had them as their first game as they got a highly polished iteration, but it was pretty stale for older gamers, which I guess is where the divide comes from.

I for one welcome a remake, as long as it's not as forgettable as the original and has less water travel.

Given that HG/SS's UI was better than DPPT and BW, I would be happy to see RSE remakes and (potentially) use them as my home game for online battles. Really, the only problem I had with RSE was the surf speed (fixed) and the lack of a day/night cycle because that was a thing blew my mind as a kid and I wear my goggles proudly.

I don't hate Gen 3, I did enjoy it.
But it is my least favorite because of its overuse of HMs. HMs being of course, the worst fucking mechanic in Pokemon.
Also the 2 bikes thing was kinda annoying.
Credit where it is due though, the Regi trio is the best Legendary hunt because of the odd ways to make them appear.

I'm not going to lie, Hoenn is my favourite. Done. It was not my first gen, but surely the one that captivates me the most.
Anyway, Gen 3 fans are by far the most obnoxious and annoying, but please excuse us, we all have our sleep tormented by dreams of the remake and the consequent fear that GF will just ignore us, it is a though life.

Good things
+Expanded the EV system to allow more customization.
+Natures
+Abilities
+Introduced the Battle Frontier
+Gave a better selection of hold items (only good hold items in Gen 2 were Leftovers and maybe the occasional Miracle Berry)
+Early game and mid game had very strong areas such as Fallarbor Town, Abandoned Ship, Fortree City
+Actually made your dad relevant in the game
+AI and opponent movesets got more competent
+Secret Bases were pretty cool if you had friends
+Introduced gym leader rematches
+Contests gave you something else to do besides battling and catching them all
+Regi quest was far more interesting than hunting the legendary birds and beasts

Bad things
-May and Wally were pretty weak compared to Blue and Silver
-Late game got very monotonous with the constant water areas, though Sootopolis City was pretty cool
-Made time far less relevant

God no. Hoenn is easily my least favorite gen, but Genwunners are the absolute worst. I tried watching some incredibly long documentary about Pokemon some Genwunner did and I had to turn it off when he ranted for about 10 minutes on how Kanto was better than Johto and was the only redeeming quality of G/S/C.

Fuck Hoennfags, but Genwunners are NOT preferable.

I've played at least 2 games from every gen, and I do like 3rd gen. A lot. And by 3rd gen I mean Emerald. I don't care for ruby & sapphire. And I only like it that much because of the battle frontier. Yes, I hope they remake 3rd gen. They've remade 1st & 2nd gen, so it only makes sense that 3rd gen is next to be remade. I love all the Pokemon games, and I have a favorite one. Is that not okay?

I really, really don't understand people saying that ruby sapphire emerald got them tired of pokemon, instead of gen 2, where literally half the game was copied from kanto. At least hoenn was an entirely new place, and the battle frontier in emerald is by far the best post game area in a pokemon game yet (all that variety in challenges for the battle facilities). They added a huge feature: abilities, as well as contests, and gym leader rematches. The music was great, the story was actually decent for once, the art style looks the best out of any game so far and holds up today (which is why I don't want remakes), and Steven kicked ass with metagross. Very fun games.
