Is it just me, or are trainer battles in X & Y a bit too easy.

The most Pokemon a trainer has had are 3 maybe 4.

Meanwhile, I'm using like,.. 15 Pokemon at the moment, swapping out stuff whenever I feel like it. I've never done this in a main storyline before.

Easy mode?

Level pacing is pretty fucked, it goes completely out the window if you don't turn EXP share off.

It's a shame, because I thought the new EXP share was the answer to grinding.. But in the end it makes your Pokemon too strong.

Exp share is a big part of it.
With EXP share you can easily get to the 70s before the 8th gym
Even without it, it's still a lot easier than what it feels like it should be.
I was hoping there was a hard mode available like with Black2/White2 but I don't think there is.

Yeah, the EXP Share makes leveling pretty crazy here. I don't think I've ever trained a Pokemon to Level 90 or above before (I don't care about hitting Level 100, and why give them an EXP Share?), but this time, I've already had three Pokemon hit 100 just from keeping them in my party while doing things like the Battle Chateau.

Chateau does. I really don't know why the game decided to make it a battle facility (in that it has the "Battle ___" name and the Tower/Subway music), because it's really not one. It's a lot closer to something like the Battleground or Nimbasa stadiums than a typical battle facility.
