real reason:Only Pokemon with floating or flying animations can enter I think. So Haunter can but Gengar cannot.

Only pokemon with a flying/floating animation are allowed in shitbattles.

Hawlucha is not allowed.

Pidgey is not allowed

Fletchling is not allowed

Haunter is allowed but Gengar is not despite having Levitate

Gyarados is allowed and Mega Gyarados is still allowed despite not being flying type anymore

Pokemon that are never really seen in the air are now perpetually flying simply so they can participate in Sky battles.

I'm still super salt about how flying battles were handled. Why couldn't they at least give SOME of the Flying type pokemon 2 different idle animations. I would love to see a non-flying Honchkrow, but because of fucking sky battles it flaps its arms and flies like a retard.

Because flying battles are the worst battling gimmick ever.
Also Hawlucha doesn't fly, he flying presses where he needs to go.
You don't ride Hawlucha into town, Hawlucha suplexes you into town.
