It was decided for some reason that the episode should be postponed. And then it was never aired, and everything about the story arc up to that point was completely dropped. Suddenly the plot came to a screeching halt - filler after filler, with them eventually realizing OH SHIT YOU GUYS, B/W2 is coming! We should do something! So they got to work on that. Charizard was brought back, and the new intro showed Charizard fighting Reshiram, so this new story arc should be good, right?
What we got was a half-assed, rushed-as-fuck, terrible era wherein KYUREM WAS NOT INVOLVED AT ALL, Colress barely got any screentime or involvement, N's character was butchered, Ghetsis did fuck all, his plot from B/W2 was watered down to "brainwash Reshiram for 5 minutes, then Ash saves the day," Charizard did absolutely nothing, the worst character in the entire series was introduced (Cameron), a terrible fanfiction-tier character was introduced (Virgil), Ash loses to Cameron, and then Cameron loses to Virgil while Virgil goes on to win the entire Unova League.
