So I'm finally going to start EV training in X and Y now that I've pretty much done everything in the game.

Is it faster/more efficient to super train, or to do horde battles with the power items? Do horde battles give you a shitload of EVs?

I was planning on doing Super Training, but I heard that using hordes+power items can yield like 50 EVs per battle.

what takes time is getting power items and pokerus.

You should complete all the super training regardless, you can get some pretty nice rewards. I got many of the evolution stones that way.

Having some designated pokemon to horde train is far, far faster though. All you need is something with surf, and something with sweet scent, and the power items. They're only 16 BP each, so it shouldn't take long to get them all if you do the battle facility in lumiose.

I can fully EV train in about 20 minutes with hordes.

The problem is Hordes usually give 5-10EVs which is hardly faster than one round of Super Training for 12... But with the power items that goes up to 25-35 and with Pokerus that goes up to 50-70, which if you can summon Hordes at will and OHKO them is CLEARLY faster.

Power items cost BP though, and Pokerus is rare, so it's a question of "if you invest time in this now, getting EV trained mons is quick. If you only have a few mons to train, Super Training is quicker than spending the time getting all the shit you actually need to make Hordes quicker."

I actually find Super Training entertaining, though not everyone does, so I'd prefer doing it.

Though Power Item + EVs makes it so fast to max a stat (5 fights) I'd still do Horde training if I had the shit.

STing takes about an hour, regardless of how good you are at it.

Still didn't take long. 15 battles roughly I think, which is handy as Surf has 15 PP.
I also grew a whole shit ton of Leppa berries.

True, but factor in the amortization of the time spent playing Battle Facilities for the BP and buying all 6 Power Items and it's only faster if you're training like a dozen mons or so.

Yeah, but not so MUCH faster that it'd be worth it.

With Power Items and Pokerus, it's like 5 fights to max a stat. That's FAST.

With just Macho Brace, it's like 26 fights. That's only marginally faster than just banging out some ST rounds, and it's so much more mind-numbingly boring that I still think ST is worth it.

If you had Pokerus AND the Macho Brace, shouldn't you have been getting at least 50 per horde battle?
Each Pokemon gives you a minimum of one EV, plus 4 for the Power item, times two for Pokerus should be 10 EVs per Pokemon.

The Power Item gives you 4 EVs no matter what you kill, so if you use a Power Item for HP against a HP EV horde that's 5 per monster which is 25 doubled with Pokerus is 50.

Whatever you say but Super Training is boring repetitive tapping and mini games.
Whereas I cna just get into a few battles and my Pokemon is complete. 20 mins opposed to an hour per monster is much better and I cna do that whilst watching shit online too.
