I have a question about IVs / nature

I haven't played since Gen III so I don't know anything about perfect natures and IVs. How do I tell when I have a Pokemon with perfect IVs? What will their stats be when they are first hatched?

Example: I hatched this cute Skiddo and I have no idea how 'imperfect' it is. I have a few other ones I've hatched that have 6's across the board for stats, and they have mostly a hardy nature with a mixed characteristic.

So that being said, what is a perfect nature/characteristic/iv combo for skiddo?

Gogoat is pretty versatile with what Nature you can give it. I guess the best ones would be either Adamant (+Atk/-SAtk) or Careful (+SpD/-SpA), it depends on how you want to do it, really.

As far as IVs go, the more the better. The only IV you can completely ignore on a Pokemon is either Attack or Special Attack (whichever one you aren't using) unless you're going mixed. You won't be able to get an accurate IV number at Level 1, so either give it some Rare Candies or leave it in the day care for a while to get a better idea of where he is in terms of perfection.

Characteristics don't matter, They are jsut based off the Pokemon's highest IV.

The easiest way to tell is to go to the IV checker in Kiloude's pokecenter. He'll list the highest IV and any that match it. If they're 31 he'll say they can't be beat. He'll also take note of any IVs that are 0

oh, i see.
what would 'proud of its power' be based off of? Attack I am assuming. Also are these nature and IV number drastic? Or do they make very little difference if any?

Nature and IVs are half of what makes up a Pokemon, with the other half being EVs and base stats, so yeah, they are pretty important. That's not to say you should let it hold you back from using that shiny Skiddo, so go for it,.

So with every new egg that hatches, the baby's IVs get better and better until they are fully inherited? I thought IVs were assigned completely at random when a Pokemon is generated?
