How in the fuck does someone go about getting more than 1 leftovers?

Like half the pokemon used competitively use it....

This. You have a 10% chance of picking up an item after a battle, and a lv100 has a 1% chance of picking up Leftovers, so that gives you a 0.1% chance after every battle. Good luck.

Or just, ya know, move the item around to whatever team member you have that's using it, because if you're playing "competitively" and not using item clause then you are doing something wrong.

Unfortunately, yes, this is true. Any official competitions or online play will bar the use of the same item on more than one Pokemon. This rule is referred to as the Item Clause.
