Probably not, it really kind of a annoys me that they pandered so hard to genwunners for this. I mean like, at least give the other gen 1 starters 2 mega evolutions, but no, just charizard. That's some bullshit. I'm really hoping that they have some mega evolutions in store for other gen starters. Specifically gen 5 since there are no fucking megas whatsoever for gen 5.

The whole point of being a genwunner is the idea that Pokemon games have inherently gotten shittier as the franchise got older, which in turn is just an excuse for their laziness/indifference to actually get back into Pokemon.

A genwunner is simply someone who, when they were a kid, played Pokemon or participated in the franchise in other ways - most likely during Gen I and/or Gen II - but lost interest and stopped playing as they got older and Pokemon became less popular. But now that Pokemon has become popular again and, overall, a better video game series, they want back in on the popularity bandwagon without actually committing the time, effort and money necessary to catch back up on the series. As a result, they just shit on every aspect of new Pokemon games and/or play up the aspects of the older games as a way of portraying themselves as still being "true fans" without actually being a fan.

I have never been into pokemon for the metagame so there's not really much here for me.

It was fun playing through a Pokemon game again after having a 13 or so year break from the series. But it was pretty much the exact same experience I had when I was 10.

I honestly don't think I'll ever buy another Pokemon game, unless they drastically change the formula or Incorporate it into a different genre like an MMO.

If you've posted in this thread with your opinion on the series and don't have 50 replies calling you a piece of shit then no, you're not a genwunner. Genwunners are a special kind of shithead. The guy that did that amazingly long Pokemon Retrospective? Total Genwunner.

If you can spare a dozen hours then look it up sometime. He talks about how Kanto is the best region in any game, and how the games have gotten lazy over time. When talking about Gold and Silver he talks like the only redeemable quality to them was Kanto, and how all the REAL trainers reside in Kanto. He's an insufferable cunt, and a total genwunner.

anyhow kanto best region, all the other regions were total shit. I only chose to play this game because it had shit from kanto, last game I played was silver/crystal and that was only reedemable because of Kanto.

the thing about zoroark is that many people want to use it but actually want to see it instead of just the illusion of another pokemon all the time they play with it.

even worse, while Illusion is a cool gimmick skill, zoroark just doesnt get any other skill to replace it, so you are doomed to always see "something else" most of the time you use it

but I do have some older friends that only liked gens 1,2 and a little of 3 that realized that the newer games are equally good. they just recently bought black, and did preorder Y. i haven't talked to them recently to see how they like it, but i can assume that they'd like it because there's really nothing bad about the game itself. it could appeal to anyone that remotely enjoys pokemon. they did a good job.

Genwunners are the "90s" kids that complain about their childhood whenever they see that something has changed in recent times. It's just that the pokemon fanbase has an actual term for these people. Although I will say that here the meaning is just used to avoid criticism of the newer games

I'm pretty sure they exist for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Beyblade, Sonic and so on.
