Thing is, B/Ws story was executed REALLY badly.

They shove the story down your throat after the first 5 minutes, continue doing that every 10 minutes or so, and then throw in a shitty twist at the very very end.

Doesn't help that the story is clearly based on Mother 3, but whatever.

Not gonna lie: If given the choice, I would have sided with N in Black and White.

XY story feels like they had to retool it heavily midway to force the whole mega pokemon quest in it and thus reduce teh flare team actions completely. Probably because they weren't sure kids would care about mega if they weren't shoved in their face in the story.
Really bad move imo.

Team Flare were pretty mediocre in the whole plans area, but I liked Lysandre since he was this crazy philanthropist who goes on about how everyone is filthy lazy ungrateful shits even though he invents such wonderful iPhones for them. He's like an evil Steve Jobs.

But the part I really enjoyed was AZ. The bards in the pokemon centers who sing his story, the castle you visit as a tourist attraction, his minor role in the main plot until the end when he shows up to fight you with the Pokemon he went out and caught after being inspired by you, and then the beautiful scene when he trembles as Floette returns to him.

It's really sweet and while simple, felt pretty much perfect for people getting back into Pokemon with X Y.

It's all about regaining the love.

And that little song in the credits! God, my heart exploded at that.

I got bored of any Sandbox games that don't give me superpowers. I never really had the urge to cause mayhem and destruction in real life.

Shooting at police is always fun, of course, but then Pokemon doesn't even seem to HAVE any police of any sort, the closest thing to an actual government in the games is a sporting league.

So no, no Grand Theft Gogoat.

But a game where you turn out to be the villain and the Evil Team are actually good guys who beat you would be interesting. I actually sort of thought that's what they were doing with Plasma, before LOL WE TROL U GON CONKUR DA WORLD got slapped onto the end. The game was calling you out as a monster who never really cared about Pokemon as much as you said.

Of course, the nature of Pokemon is to lend itself to that kind of moral question. There aren't many other things that the player will do in the course of a Pokemon game without thinking; every other Evil Activity will be met with "this is stupid, why am I supposed to do this?"

So I'm not sure it can EVER be done, now that Team Plasma wasted the Pokemon Liberation story.

Well, no, actually, local battles could do the same in Gen V, it's just that in THIS gen, you can do local battles with FC friends and trade acquaintances over WiFi rather than just using local wireless.

I mean all of those are completely anti-metagame clusterfucks, but the 5 turn limit makes them fairly limited in use.

Now, if they got starter abilities and/or held items to increase duration like weather, THEN they could clusterfuck the meta.

But if they remain as-is, especially having a -7 priority, they'll mostly be useful on bulky ice types like Avalugg or Normal types.

Dragon Rage is somewhat viable.

Due to rounding and the damage formula, the game plays SLIGHTLY faster, with the occasional 3HKO becoming a 2HKO.

Nothing else changes, really.

Magic Room now has neutral priority, meaning you can, for instance, run Prankster Magic Room sets.

Trick Room is still viable, it's mostly shit distribution that kills it.

Wonder Room is only not viable BECAUSE of shit distribution, because just about anything that learns it can also learn psyshock which has similar effects.

GameFreak dun goofed this gen; if Magic Room had surpressed Mega Stones (it does not), then it would have been a complete game-changer.

Here's hoping that we not only see Inverse Room, but that the rooms get more love soon. They're really interesting mechanics.

I think the Jaune Plaza thing was debunked yesterday. On the German version the NPC clearly believes there's an Heatran (Lava Dome) Pokèmon there because the other NPC is good at mimicking its cry. I suppose the English dialogue has a rather ambiguous translation, nevertheless the NPC says literally "Wow! I hear there's a Lava Dome Pokèmon in Jaune Plaza!" in response to her friend who's mimicking Pokémon cries.

Think the weirdest thing is that a "lava dome" pokemon would even show up in Juane Plaza, a plaza within a huge populated city. Kinda reminds me of Latios/Latias in the movie when they run through the city/town.

Whatever this "lava dome" pokemon is, it can't be huge to have appeared in Juane plaza without wrecking the place due to it's size. Has to be a relatively small pokemon to go so unnoticed, with the exception of the 2 girls that mention it.

Not all DLC is HAS to be paid DLC, just look at Monster Hunter Ultimate.

Tons of DLC missions, none of it costs money. DLC itself is not a bad thing, now if DLC has the word PAID in front of it, then you have a green text argument.

You fucking cunt. this game will have DLC in it, all signs point towards another POST game region, new or a revisit of a GC region.

I wouldn't be surprised if when Pokemon Z comes out, it gets the new region on cartridge, while X and Y users get to download the additional content free of charge.

What are you trying to argue is possible as DLC? An entire region or post-game area activated by an event item? Unlikely, since that would be unfair to people who are unable to download it. Hence the reason all events so far only open up a small area containing the single event pokemon.
