Since Farfetch'd has to hold his leek he can't atay flying during the battle.
I coupdn't do those initial run either because of this, went back and raped them all woth Noivern.

It's true. Pokémon like Dodrio, Farfetch'd, and Hawlucha are flying types that can't participate in sky battles (there are probably more I'm forgetting). For a full list of eligible Pokémon, see http://www.serebii.net/xy/skybattles.shtml

Lame one at that, I mean they could've at least spiced it up by having special move interractions. Like what if being on the ground actively hurts you, so gravity and smack down would cause damage for their duration

Seriously, I had Crobat, and my shit got wrecked in every single fucking one. If you don't have like 2 or 3 flyers, they're crazy hard if you fight them as they appear.

Sky Battles wound up being so fucking disappointing. It literally just comes down to "we were too lazy to give all the Pokemon who should have rightfully been able to participate separate flying and standing idle animations".

And it went both ways. Not only do you have Pokemon who should be capable of participating stuck on the ground, you have Pokemon like Tropius, Skarmory, and Xatu stuck in a static gliding animation that just looks fucking awkward as hell. Wingull doesn't even flap its wings now and again to stay airborne, it just sort of floats there.

Meanwhile Archeops has one of the single most active animations in the game next to Spinda and looks fucking amazing.

I went through all the battles as I ran into them with only my Fletchinder/Talonflame. I had no other choice as I didn't have Aerodactyl or any other flying type(besides Farfetch'd).
As for fighting Aerodactyl,
