Posted this yesterday but here we go again. I added someone with Aipom, Loudred and Eevee in his safari, hoping that I would find a shiny Eevee and I did, but I actually found the Aipom and Loudred first, found Loudred and Eevee in less than an hour.

Is it true that shinies are more common in friend safari

"Friend safari DOES have higher shiny rates. We've been doing a lot of testing on it to see which factors affect it. (Friend being online. having beaten the elite four etv.) According to our runs our shortest Shiny was in 41 minutes with the longest being at 5 hours. our average time is around 1:30 hours. we place the shiny odds at somewhere between 1/300 - 1/600. As i said this is all still being tested but this is the data we have atm so take it how you like. We basically enter a safari run around encountering and running from pokemon till we get a shiny. If anyone wants some of the data PM me."

The only shiny I've ever found by luck over the past 6 years was a Poochyena in Emerald.

I couldn't catch it because it was the beginning of the game and I hadn't obtained pokeballs yet.

I'm debating on eevee MM'ing. Hard part is I don't have any good japanese eevee's. They all have shit IVs. While the work to make my shiny charmander a reality was worth it, I was lucky to get a 5 IV Axew in GTS which helped a lot.

I'm torn on what to do.

It's not so bad, really. Just pick a show to watch on Netflix or something while you're doing it. I also keep taking regular breaks to breed/train my competitive team, so a week is probably pretty long for a week of breeding.

It depends what you want to use that gardevoir for. I don't use mine for combat, but I do use it for catching pokemon. Trace is super useful if you're looking in friend safaris for hidden abilities.

So hey, here's a crazy idea.

Guys this is killing me. I've been trying to get a shiny dragonair for a friend's birthday (which is tomorrow) and friend safari is not producing anything. I tried chain fishing for a dratini but only basculin were appearing.

Theoretically your best chance is fishing since it seems to guarantee at least a shiny for your efforts but I got mine at the safari after about 5 hours of fishing. So I'd suggest sticking it out in the safari. If you can find someone who hasn't beat E4 or something so its just Dragonair/X instead of Dragonair/X/X it obviously means you have a 50-50 chance of finding the shiny dragonair instead of a 33-33-33 chance.

In my experience, you can garner a shiny Gulpin pretty easily. Their horde is common, and it's chainable in the easiest patch of grass for the Pokeradar.

Has anybody had success with breeding a Friend Safari pokemon with a Foreign Ditto and producing a shiny?

I ask because I'm currently breeding a Pokemon that I got from the Friend Safari with my Japanese Ditto and I haven't netted a shiny yet. However, I've obtained shinies fairly quick with other Pokemon that I've caught in the wild and not in a Friend Safari.

I dunno up to what point it's predetermined. I soft reset after breeding Pokemon that are just plain bad. And I'm fairly certain the babies all seem very similar, even between different species.

For example, I was getting no luck doing more Gibles, so I tried Heracross, and in any circumstance after the reset, the first baby always had 0 speed. The rest also seemed oddly similar to the previous ones, but that could be just me having bad luck, and only the first being predetermined, even before putting the Pokemon in the Day Care. Would need to know exactly how that works so I stop wasting my time, while I hate releasing things.
