Ditto gets a new hidden ability.
"Imperfect"

Ditto transforms exactly as he normally would, but retains it's face.

Basically, it's Ditto from the anime. How would you feel about this?

also: shit from the anime you wish would be in the games

Rather than shiny, I think it'd be cool if some pokemon had a really rare chance to have different features. Like a rare pikachu having an horn on his forehead, Snorlax having a spiral motif on his belly or Gardevoir without her red spike. Make those really rare and then you could try to find those as shiny which would be even rarer.

Give Ditto an evolution
Ditto has 288 base stats
His evolution would have 500 base stats. The 212 additional points wouldn't be pre-determined. It would randomly distributed among all stats. How the stats are distributed would be determined by item held, other pokemon in the party and location.
Ditto's evolution's hidden ability would be a new one called Permanent Transform. When it uses Transform for the first time, the change is permanent. It completely becomes the other pokemon forever. It gains a gender, it can no longer breed outside that pokemon's egg group, transforms his replaced by the first move this pokemon has, its ability changes to an ability of the other pokemon, it changes its type accordingly, it can now learn every move this pokemon can, and if it doesn't have a nickname then its name change to the specie of the other pokemon. However, it keeps its nature, stats, IVs and EVs.

Mew can't change its base stats, ability or type. It also has a huge movepool rather than a specific pokemon's move pool. It can't breed and has no gender.

Ditto transforms upon being switched in, but keeps his face. He copies all of his opponents stats including HP. After two turns, Ditto transforms back into Ditto, with HP remaining being calculated via percentage.

Ditto transforms into someone with 250 HP. He loses 200 HP. Leaves him with 1/5th of his HP. If he has full EVs in HP and transforms back, he will have 1/5 of 214 remaining.

He gets all stats, but the transformation isn't permanent.
