Protect is a shield/dome created to protect the user

Detect is simply the user predicting it's opponent to use a move and dodges it

So Detect is like when fighters dodge a punch or use their arms to block any hits which is why Detect is mostly learned by Fighting types.

Covet is for item farming. Telekinesis is for using really powerful but shitty moves that never hit like your Dynamic Punches or Thunders. It's great work in double battles. Constrict is a good move for mid tier leveling slots, not everything can be a cap move.

I remember giving Synchronoise to Beheeyem for doubles/triples since it's the only Psychic move that can hit all adjacent Pokemon, but fuck me if I ever got around to understanding how it works.

What's its gimmick, exactly?

For Beeheeyem, its does neutral damage on Mewtwo X, Medicham and Gallade, not very effective on everything else, doesn't even hit Malamar

basicly, if bheeyem uses it, it will only damage psychic types.

if umbreon uses it, it only works against dark types.

I don't think you understand, the move itself is always Psychic-type, it just only HITS targets the same type as the user, and the user can (potentially) be something besides flying-type.

Still sucks because the only known non-psychic types that can learn it are Normal, Flying, Water, and Fairy

Which is good if you have him up against a Psychic-type.

Afterwards you can use Shadow Claw or whatever to change type to Ghost and then get rid of said Psychic-type.

He really isn't. The best use of Protean would be on something with either a ton of priority to fake out moves, like Shadow Sneaking a high jump kick, or really high base speed to just tank hits before getting hit. Topkek gets neither.

Play around with Priority type change better than Froakie with decent special defence. Oh you want to dark pulse? Sucker punch, absorb, and proceed to scratch with... return? At least ge gets STAB with everything. My Jolly Fraokie does decent damage. so I wonder how an Adamant Kecleon would do, seeing it's just 3 points behind.
