Anyone else using the huge exp increase this gen to play with lots of different pokemon?

The game was too easy with 6, so I started using more pokemon and rotating them from my boxes to my party. This has let me really explore all of the new things they added, and I'm enjoying the game a lot more.

Anyone else playing this way?

I'm actually really looking forward to that part. After building up a team of lots of pokemon, spending a little time with each one, you get to officially pick your favorites and go the final mile with them.

It's the only way I ever play a pokemon game, which means its amazing that they made it so much more fun to play this way

I am, I just hate the way that trainer battles are the only ways to really level without just GRINDING.

its really annoying how low level wilds are compared to trainers in the same area.

The way I see it, when you're an older pokefan, the story mode's purpose is to give you a fun environment to discover the new pokemon and play with the new features (like the glorious 3D battles this gen). It's just a small part of the game, we sink way more time into the post-game multiplayer anyway, which has also been upgraded this gen. I'm actually quite pleased, unlike a lot of the people I've talked to.

Yeah, I ended up with like 30 party members at the end, though only about ten had been kept up to useable levels.

yea, I keep it on.

but I feel like I need to grind for the gyms. Like I didn't have anything type-advantage strong for the electric gym, so I had to powerlevel some guys.

Clemont was a bitch to fight without ground or electrics, in fact all of the gym leaders and everything about this game has been pretty difficult, at least to me, mostly because I use the pokemon I like even if they aren't good statwise

I see. I spend a lot of time catching pokemon. I catch pretty much everything available in every route. When you have exp share on and you do that, you end up getting a lot of experience to spread around.

This. I used the same party throughout the game aside from switching two out for new ones, didn't grind at all and I was 70-75 at the Elite 4.
Shit, Tyrantrum was my lowest level and he solo'd the Dragon trainer.
The game refused to give me a Female Ralts so I had a Gallade and no Fairy.
