Bahrain is the island town
Egypt, Iran, Turkey are all easily distinct enough to be towns

UK fag here, I really wouldn't want ut to be based in Britain. We have the most boring culture ever and as far as an exotic interesting place we really don't provide anything. Italy would be cool but it would be too similar to Kalos and we'd probably end up with a spaghetti mon and it's also not that exotic.

Why not Southeast Asia?

Since Butterfly knives and thumbdrives originate from there. We can have a butterfly knife Pokemon that practically looks like the retarded relative of Aegislash, and has Rapid Spin, as well as an ability that slices through Entry Hazards. Bug/Steel and looks like a butterfly with blades for wings. Regional bug that can be used competitively.

There are also many exotic animals, but then again, Pangoro live in Kalos and Darmanitan live in Unova.

The regionsl bird could be a myna Pokemon that, like Metagross or Eevee, originate from a region that hasn't been introduced yet. In other words, an invasive species.

I understand what you mean, though then again I'd say Kalos also felt quite unexotic for most Europeans (it did for me at least and I'm not French).

I think only Italy is close to France's popularity (Venice is every Japanese person's wet dream), but it's a bit too similar to France. I'd say something like HongKong or Shanghai area could work.

Imagine Yugoslavia as a region.
