Only there are plenty of slow Pokemon that are a huge presence in competitive battling despite their speed. And Garchomp's still not even slow. Lucario's speed is like base 90 and it's always been OU.

The speed stat doesn't work like the other stats: 1 Atk point more or less isn't gonna make a huge difference (in fact, it's much less than the random damage roll), but in speed, 1 point makes the difference between going first and going last. In a meta, where almost everything can be OHKOt, that's huge. Garchomp has always had just enough Speed. Mega Garchomp has well too little.

I know how speed works. Mega Garchomp is a wall breaker. It is not a sweeper. You do not need to be 130 speed to wallbreak, you need to be able to kill things.

I'm not disagreeing with you but Sand Veil hax was what really tipped it over the edge which is why it got to stay in OU last gen when they banned all evasion abilities.

It's just that normal Garchomp's game presence is bigger than MGarchomps. When you have a normal Garchomp standing there, why would you ever click that evolution button?
I can see interesting spreads using MGarchomps advantages, but I think there are better wall breakers, that don't need to go mixed. MGarchomp basically has the stats of Kyurem-B, trading HP for a better typing.

Mega Garchomp serves an entirely different purpose from regular. Regular is a straight up sweeper or support. Megachomp will just run mixed offense. Its abilities as a wall breaker are the reason to use it.
