When I was a kid playing yellow, which was my first pokemon game, I never read what people had to say so I didn't know I had to give Oak the parcel and get the pokeballs that way
I couldn't continue the game because I didn't give him the parcel and the dead man was still blocking the way
So I thought that I needed to catch a pokemon to continue and the manual said that to catch pokemon you needed to lower their health and put them to sleep. so I thought that after I met those requisites I could catch a pokemon
I got into a fight but I couldn't get the pokemon to sleep, so I thought that waiting for long enough might put them to sleep. So I waited and waited hoping that the pokemon would fall asleep and it never did. I just got mad and turned the game off
after that some asshole cousin told me that to continue I needed to catch pokemon in the same order Ash caught them in the cartoon before he got to the first gym, so I spent so much time searching for a caterpie and a pidgeotto in route 1 to continue with the game but obviously couldn't
Then later I just discovered the whole parcel thing and was allowed to continue in the game only to get to a brick wall when I had to face Brock with shitmons and my pikachu
The first time playing pokemon was filled with many painful moments. don't even get me started on LT Surge's gym trash cans
