>>15422973>Gourgeist-better physical defense (better resists priority)
-can have much better speed
-better stats for subseeder/Leech Seed in general
-uninvested Fire Blast 2HKO Skarmory/Ferro/Scizor/Forry, something Trevenant can only dream of (invest a little more to guarantee without SR if wanted)
-has better bulk than Trevenant with supersize
-super size Trick Room
-fast Trick on small size
Trevenant has more useful abilities, better special bulk, and a fantastic offensive movepool (which makes Gourgeist cry outside Fire Blast). However, it has really limited recovery, despite Harvest and Rest+Natural Cure schenanigans due to its slow speed. Harvest means very little if you're outsped and 2HKOed anyways.
If you're using Trevenant, don't focus on Harvest gimmicks and dream of having an invincible tank, because that won't happen.
Focus on its unique features: that fantastic offensive movepool + enhanced longevity (Leech Seed, Horn Leech, Rest+Natural Cure/Harvest) to act as a defensive pivot. Harvest IS useful, but not for creating an undying ghost tree with Rest. You will be outsped and 2HKOed before you can anything about it. It's useful for immediate recovery with potential to be used again later in the match.
In most cases, Wood Hammer > Horn Leech. Despite the recovery, Trevenant doesn't often end up in matchups where it'll hit for SE, meaning you'll end up recovering very little. Wood Hammer hits of a solid 120 base damage, further distinguishes you from Gourgeist (who only has Seed Bomb), and gives it an edge to its offense which is otherwise only okay.
