Every time I release a batch of freshly hatched eggs I can only imagine what it does to the wildlife population in the area.
I mean sure, a bunch of baby Torchics aren't going to do much to most habitats as long as they don't know any fire moves. I figure Spearows and Pidgeys will have their way with them, swooping down and ending their miserable-low IV'd existence relatively quickly.
But imagine something bigger, more heartless, and cruel. From the minute Scythers hatch from their eggs they have the capability to be lethal. They have razor sharp scythes on each arm, and excel in speed. They've got great attack from the get go, and if given enough time, could potentially evolve into Scizor which is practically an unstoppable killing machine.
Imagine a large group of these mantid being released in one area, with 4-5 perfect IVs. They'd slaughter all the generic Pokemon in the area outright, and quickly become the apex predator. Then, with their food sources running dry, they'd turn their sights to trainers with their newfound experience and thirst for blood. With the indigenous wild population extinguished, what kind of trainer would it take to put an end to their menace?
