The fact that Pokemon Chronicles was such a trainwreck and full of errors that were inconsistent with the dub itself? The changing of characterization?
4Kids was putting out flawed product and TCPi didn't want them hurting the quality of the brand. The reason for new voice actors was because of unions, and the fact that many of them don't allow you to work in different areas or for different companies. In case you haven't noticed, they've actually been eager to bring back old actors from the 4Kids days when they've been allowed to go between different studios, as was the case with Gary and Giovanni's actors, and Jason Griffith coming on to voice Cilan.
and saying that Ash doesn't have compassion and is always angry does both Matsumoto and Natochenny a disservice. They're both capable of showing him capable of understanding and kindness without making him sound like he's a fucking five year old.
And in any case, this is a DUB. Matsumoto and the original script are the benchmark for the character. Following it is not a bad thing.
